Subject Matter: The Thing Itself

The Thing Itself is the SUBJECT MATTER: what is being photographed. Unlike almost all other art forms, photography shows things as they really are in the most detailed way possible, as close to reality as possible. This subject matter can be personal to each photographer, and it can be universally recognized. There are as many photographs to make as there are of things and subject matter themselves, and ways of photographing them.
