This course was created FOR teachers BY teachers and we are so excited to get it in your hands. Let us explain what this is. . .

In recent years, Birdville ISD has included a Parent/Teacher Conference day as part of the yearly calendar.  This is a day set aside for teachers to meet with their families and discuss student progress, set collaborative goals, and establish a strong school-to-home foundation.  "WHY?" we are having Parent/Teacher Conferences is not really a question our teachers have. . .but "HOW?" should we be doing this and "WHO?" should we be meeting with are common questions on each campus.  

While the district expects you to follow the expectations of your campus principal, we did want to provide for you some guidance, systems, and resources you could use to make your Parent/Teacher Conferences wildly successful.  And, who better to provide that support than master practitioners right here in Birdville ISD classrooms?  And so, we gathered elementary and secondary teachers together and mapped out what we all hope is a toolbox full of support for each of you.

Our hope is that you use this guide as a flipped-learning experience.  Sometime over this month, prior the district designated Parent/Teacher Conference Day, the district encourages you to go through this guide and use it to help you schedule, plan for, and conduct excellent Parent/Teacher Conferences.  We know that the work needed to make your Parent/Teacher Conference Day successful happens waaaaay before the actual day.  Therefore, use this course and the systems and resources within it to get your Parent/Teacher Conferences going. Prior to your first conference, gather materials, run reports, and maybe even practice going through a conference with a trusted colleague acting as the parent.  

If you are not in a role that would have Parent/Teacher Conferences, then the expectation is that you report to your campus principal and receive direction on what your day will look like on the office Parent / Teacher Conference Day.
