This course will introduce basic use of Canvas and covers the following topics:
Canvas Learning Management System Overview
Canvas Course Settings
Organizing Course Content Using Modules
Sharing Information with Students Using Pages including Embedding Content
Creating and Managing Assignments Including Online Submission Types
Providing Feedback to Students and Using the Canvas Gradebook
Sharing and Importing Content Between Courses and Teachers
Additionally, best practices for each of these topics will be included throughout the modules. Throughout the course, you will have opportunities to practice creating content that you can utilize in your actual Canvas courses.
Future courses will cover more advanced topics including Announcements, Rubrics, Discussions, and Quizzes.
This course will cover the use of Canvas New Quizzes and covers the following topics:
Creating and assigning a new quiz
Creating questions using all question types including both traditional and interactive (STAAR 2.0) question types.
Customizing quiz settings
Grading and Feedback for quizzes
Accessing reporting and data features in new quizzes
Managing quiz questions using Item Banks
Sharing quizzes across courses or with colleagues
Additionally, best practices for each of these topics will be included throughout the modules. Throughout the course, you will have opportunities to practice creating quizzes that you can utilize in your actual Canvas courses.
This course assumes a basic understanding of the use of Canvas including creating modules, navigating within a course, and utilizing the rich content editor to add images, videos, and PDF files. Develop a foundational understanding of Pear Deck and its role in interactive, student-centered learning.
Learn how to create and deliver engaging Pear Deck lessons using various question types and templates.
Explore ready-made templates, lessons, and AI-generated Pear Decks and how to customize them for instructional needs.
Understand how to integrate Pear Deck with Canvas for seamless lesson delivery.
Analyze student responses using Pear Deck’s Teacher Dashboard to inform instruction and provide feedback.
Apply post-session tools to review student work, export data, and support reflection and assessment.

Learn how to create and manage classrooms within GoGuardian Teacher, including enrolling students and adjusting classroom settings.
Gain proficiency in monitoring student activity using sessions and screens view, as well as utilizing teacher commands effectively.
Explore the timeline view feature to track student browsing history and identify trends.
Learn how to use teacher chat and off-task alerts to intervene and support student engagement.
Master the creation and application of scenes for filtering web content based on educational needs and classroom management goals.
Understand different website URL types and how they impact scene creation and filtering.
Familiarize yourself with scene statuses and learn how to interpret and respond to different scenarios.
Develop troubleshooting skills by addressing frequently asked questions related to GoGuardian Teacher usage.
Apply learned skills to create secure and productive digital learning environments for students while maintaining privacy and safety protocols.

The learner will identify how SMART Lumio will give your students an interactive experience filled with activities, games, Group Workspaces, formative assessments, and more, all from a single place.
The learner will develop an interactive Lumio lesson that includes student collaboration, game-based practice, and assessment activities to demonstrate student learning.
The learner will utilize SMART Lumio features to create active learning experiences, provide opportunities for student choice and voice, employ strategies that raise engagement levels, and use data to adjust instruction that meets the needs of all students
