Describe your plan of action and how each of your four chosen competencies will influence its design and implementation.
Firstly I need to reach out to our PE Liaison and Curriculum Director about joining our Curriculum Team [Group Process, Developing]. Once I am on that team I can help create our Year at a Glance documents K-5 (stage one for my capstone) and work with our PLC groups as a Leader to complete these documents (Evidence #1&2)[Group Process, Performing]. During the PLC time we will work on a shared vision and share content that fit certain standards and proficiency scales. Once we have determined what games or skills are needed for each standard/proficiency scale I can then look at creating a site to host all of these documents. I will reach out to my TILT PE teachers to help me create basic rules for games on a shared document to then put in the Google Site where everything will be. In the end I am hoping to provide a place that I can virtually mentor new teachers or inspire other teachers to lead with confidence in their school. This capstone will allow for equity amongst the students of my school district. Teachers will have a more in depth pacing guide to follow.
How will your leadership leverage the strengths and address the needs of diverse stakeholders to support the plan of action, develop capacity, broaden decision-making, and learn collaboratively?
This is something that has never been created before. When asking to do this project I had no push back from my stakeholders. Being the 17th hire out of our 20 Health Enhancement teachers I thought I would have push back from my colleagues who have been teaching since 1991. Instead they were very accepting of the idea. The plan is not to change the way people teach but to enhance what we teach.
How will you use collaboration, questioning, data, and reflection during the implementation of your action plan?
Collaboration will be the main focus of this project. Creating a sense of ease in our profession. We share so many similar games and ideas in health it would be a lot easier for us to share if we had one place to host our ideas. This project will also help when we leave sub plans for our guest teachers. Most of the time we share our guest teachers. Some of us educators noticed that we play very similar games but call them something different. Creating this website the educator will have less work to get the guest teacher ready and in return the guest teacher will be more familiar with the format as it is the same for each of us.
How will you address obstacles that you may encounter in implementing your plan?
When implementing my plan I plan to send out an email so I can share all the documents with my colleagues. This will also be located in our Health Enhancement shared Google folder. An obstacle that I could encounter would be colleagues continuing to do things the same way they have. That could be teaching topics when they feel like it, starting health when they feel like it instead of us being within 1 to 2 weeks of each other. I don't know if I would address this. I wouldn't be the person to tell someone they are not doing their job 'correctly'. Again My project is to help ease the idea of our new year at a glance.
How will you know if your action plan is successful? What evidence would support your claim?
To know if my action plan is successful I would base it of off emails and communication at PLC meetings. Other Educators may want to add more content to the website. Having the Health Enhancement team continuing the website to grow would support my action plan on being successful.
I was in charge of typing out our YAGS. We hyper linked each document to this document along with the website for my Do stage.
First Curriculum meeting I was invited to, to work on our YAGS.
