Windows Laptop

Please use this guide if you have borrowed a Windows laptop from Bideford College.

Q: How do I log into the laptop?

A: Your username and password will have been given to you on a sticky note with the laptop. This is the password for your laptop and your other services, such as email and Google. Note that your username is the same username you use to log onto the computers at school.

Q: Can my laptop password be changed if I forget it?

A: No it can not, please contact your tutor and ask them to ask IT for your password.

Q: I forgot my password to my email or Google, will my laptop password still be what is on the sticky note?

A: Yes, if you have already changed your password for Google or emails, your laptop password will remain the same, so you will have one password for your laptop and one password for other services such as Google, emails etc..

Q: How do I save my work at home?

A: You can save your work to the desktop, but you can also upload it to Google Drive or ClassCharts if your teacher has set that up. Note you can also upload your work to HAP (Home Access Plus+) - see here for more info.

Q: Why is the laptop saying that it is not licensed for Windows or Office?

A: This is normal, and will happen if the laptop is off-site for an extended period of time. Please drop the laptop back into school so that IT can sync it back up with the system, this may take around half an hour.

Q: Can another person log onto the laptop that I have taken home?

A: No, your laptop will have been explicitly set up for your username, so another student will not be able to log on to the laptop as it will not work with their account.
