Recycling Project 2017-2018

Tinley Park High School Recycling Project 2017

Welcome to the official TPHS Recycling Tracker!!

The project was independently run and managed by a student run organization (the Science National Honors Society) within the population of TPHS Titans. Our goal was to not only to bring attention to the issues of recycling and being environmentally conscious, but also to the power that student organizations can have within their communities and school.

Results: We observed an overall increase in the amount of materials recycled over the course of the project. We hope that students at TPHS will continue to recycle in coming years to make our school more eco friendly.

Why Recycling?

Several other schools in the SNHS have performed similar projects to raise awareness of the carbon footprint of the school, as well as how students could affect that footprint. However, TPHS already had a professional evaluation of their carbon footprint and efficiency as a school. There was one element in the review however, that, upon reading it, we almost could not believe. This element highlighted the fact that our school did not recycle at all, seeing a great opportunity to bring about more environmental awareness in our school, the organization took the idea and ran with it.
