The State of New Jersey and PerformCare work together to administer the publicly-funded developmental disability service delivery system for children and youth up to age 21. In order to receive intellectual and developmental disability services, you must apply for a determination of eligibility this can be done online or by mail. The New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities, or DDD, provides public funding for services and supports that assist New Jersey adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities age 21 and older to live as independently as possible. Services and supports are available in the community from independent providers, and in five state-run developmental centers.

The mission of the New Jersey Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS) is to enable eligible individuals with disabilities to achieve an employment outcome consistent with their strengths, priorities, needs, abilities and capabilities. Any individual with a physical, mental, cognitive, or other form of disability that has a substantial impediment to employment may qualify for services including career counseling, supported employment, evaluations, financial planning, job accommodations, training, etc.

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the state of New Jersey provides an affordable option for those who cannot get around using traditional public transportation. The system, known as Paratransit or Access Link, allocates shuttle buses, sedans, and wheelchair-lift-equipped vans to pick up people and take them to select destinations around the state. To apply, individuals can call NJ TRANSIT at 1-800-955-2321 and speak to a certification specialist who will schedule an appointment for an in-person assessment.
