World AIDS Day 2023
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a retrovirus that attacks the body’s immune system, gradually weakening it and making it difficult to fight off infections and diseases. Later it progressed to Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). To create the awareness on HIV-AIDS December 1st is noted World AIDS Day.
Objectives:
Creating awareness among LGBT Community about HIV-AIDS
Awareness about the HIV-AIDS in public places.
The Campaign
On the occasion of World AIDS Day, the volunteers of National Service Scheme (NSS), Birla Global University, Bhubaneswar organized a campaign of spreading awareness among sex workers, LGBT Community, and public about the use of contraceptives to avoid the spread of sexually transmitted diseases and other causes of AIDS by giving them a brief idea about the disease and how it spreads, its symptoms followed by how they can avoid it. NSS Volunteers distributed booklets (Hindi, English, and Odia) and wall mounting posters related to awareness and prevention of the disease. Odisha State AIDS Control Society (OSACS) supported in providing necessary awareness campaign materials in this regard.
