ORIENTATION PROGRAMME AT BIRLA GLOBAL UNIVERSITY
National Service Scheme (NSS) orientation programme was organized at Birla Global University (BGU), Gothapatna, Bhubaneswar, on 23.03.2022. More than 100 volunteers participated from four NSS units catering to different schools of the university.
Dr. Suvendu Kr. Pratihari, NSS Coordinator of the university, gave the welcome address and briefed the guests and the volunteers about the recent developments in NSS at BGU. Prof. B. K. Das, the Registrar, extended his regards to the NSS Regional Directorate, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India and the State NSS Office for their support in functionalizing the NSS units successfully by the university. In his presidential address, Prof. P.P. Mathur, the Vice-Chancellor, emphasized the objective and significance of the orientation programme and cited his experience as an NSS volunteer during his student tenure in the 1970s at Banaras Hindu University.
Dr. Dr. Ramesh Chandra Behera, State NSS Officer cum Dy. Secretary, Higher Education Department, Govt. of Odisha, graced the NSS volunteers as the chief guest. In his speech, he focused on the core purpose of the NSS and how it helps students develop social and humanitarian skills, which is an essential element in every aspect of life. He emphasized the concept of being empathetic to others, which is the actionable part of showing sympathy.
Shri Nirada Barana Khuntia, State NSS Training Officer, NSS ETI, OUAT, Bhubaneswar took a session about NSS structure, roles and responsibilities of volunteers, and motivated them to be proactive in understanding and addressing different social issues, which can help them in building their personality and a better India as well. Shri N.C.Deori, Youth Officer, NSS Regional Directorate Bhubaneswar, addressed the volunteers about their youthful spirit that can be a change agent of the society.
The guests were felicitated by programme officers and members of the NSS committee Dr. Snigdha Mohapatra, Dr. Siddharth Misra, Prof. Lopamudra Nayak, Prof. Suresh Gole. Ms. Ashna Siddiqui, Programme Officer, proposed the vote of thanks.
