If I take GENESIS I won't be able to participate with my club/team or see my friends.

While it is true that GENESIS will require you to be away from school at times; you will, however, still see your friends. You will also be in a program where you will make new friends which is great preparation for whatever pathway you choose in life (work, apprenticeship, college, university).

GENESIS is a single semester program that will create lasting memories for a lifetime. Students can still participate in school based clubs/teams, but this participation will be secondary to GENESIS field trips. Past students will attest that what you gain in a GENESIS semester far outweighs what you lose in reduced club/team play for one semester.

The GENESIS program compliments courses that you need to graduate. You will earn, a physical education credit, two cooperative education credits and a senior environmental science credit. Students in all pathways have successfully planned their secondary course selections to include a GENESIS semester.

The GENESIS program is very well equipped. Students require minimal personal equipment. Students are responsible for: rain gear, cycling shorts, good sturdy running shoes/hiking shoes, sunglasses, and a positive attitude.

Developing a relationship with creation is central to all people; GENESIS allows for intra-personal growth that will transform your way of thinking and acting.

The GENESIS semester does come with some additional course fees. In addition to the initial course fee, students are responsible for their own food budgets. NO STUDENT WILL BE TURNED AWAY BECAUSE OF INABILITY TO PAY. If students require assistance, they are asked to speak with either of the program teachers. Financial assistance is available.
