Additional Notes from the scholarship provider:
Applications housed in an online process will open January 15 and close March 15
Scholarships outside of the software may follow a different timeline or procedure
a few scholarships still exist “on paper” and those opportunities will use paper for all elements
It's best for students to offer transcripts that include first semester grades (the latest and greatest!)
Applicants can upload their transcript OR send a request for you to upload on their behalf
Applicants will upload their own letters of recommendation
Counselors and applicants will receive weekly status updates starting mid-cycle (Wednesdays for counselors/Fridays for applicants)
All seniors will engage with the Universal Application. This eliminates “shopping” for individual opportunities. Once submitted, applicants will be matched with the named opportunities they qualify to pursue. They will fully submit individually named applications by providing any supplemental responses (specific essay prompt, financial information, etc.).
The applicant dashboard is truly a student’s home base. Application status and any decision information/follow-ups will exist there. Additionally, reminding students to check email will be helpful during this process as it is the primary method of correspondence. (I can see engagement/open stats from my admin view!).
Again, www.cfov.org/students will be the hub to learn about available opportunities. The page includes a link to the platform, software tutorials, general criteria snapshots for all scholarships and access instructions for scholarships not housed online.
A note about opportunities that have been paused for 2026 -
Several scholarships have been paused for further review to address identified concerns/evolution. In some instances, funds will be changing administratively, and others may ultimately take a new direction to better fulfill donor intent.
