The Amanda Gorman Corner

Sitting down no one near

Stranded away from everyone nothing but me no one

Just me

I sit here wondering when will this end

When will I get off this island

By Aidan Lafountain

Sun shining

the trees flowing

grass swaying

the lake rippling

flowers blooming

Spring has sprung!

There once was a man named Billy

He really liked to eat chili

He found a cookie, took a bite,

And it gave him powers of flight

Then he killed a tiger named Lily.

Let me give you some of advice, life is like a rope.

Ropes are a struggle to get up and down,

and you can get burned on the way but it's a journey nonetheless.

When you get up you can still go down

but it's your choice if you're going to fall or climb.

Apple Trees

leaves, blowing, moving

flowers growing, apples too

and picking apples

By Gabby Geracitano

So close yet so far

You loved them for as long as you could remember

Now you “hate” them

For leaving you all alone

You are saddened by their leaving

But you always knew it was coming

You were angered by them before

Now you wish they were still here to anger you

You have to carry on your own legacy

If it's with

Or without them

Feel Remorse for them sometimes

Talk about your day with them sometimes

Pretend like they are there sometimes

But they will never come back

And one day…

You will be gone too

Death

Life isn't perfect

but you gotta

keep climb'in

the Mountain,

Push past the

Obstacles and

Never give up.

Do your i-readys

You have to do ten of them

They are due TODAY

By Jack Keating

Pages as crisp as a fresh apple.

Smells like a fresh piece of paper.

Feels rough yet soft, warm yet cold.

When you open it, it feels like you enter the book.

ART

Bright vibrant colors

swirls of color

charcoal stained fingers

paint smudged face

stains of purple, pink, red, and blue on your clothes

what is this person doing?

This person is creating art

Baseball

Hit Run Score,

That's what you do in baseball

You sit in the shady dugout

As you watch your friends hit

Or while they are in the field.

As the balls hit to you you have to catch it

If you don't then that's an error.

I start smiling after I get a hit.

This is baseball.

By Matt Favicchio

It’s cold winds can catch you off guard

The loneliness it provides could make you sad

But there are some pros that come along

When you wake up seeing white all around you

How clean it looks at first

All the prettiness

That is until it all goes downhill again

The cleanness turns into mush and grossness

The prettiness turns into gloominess

A rollercoaster of changes

Sand over my toes

Soft waves washing across me

Taste the salty air

Summer

The sun is shining

The sand is hotter than sun

Soon summer is here

Untitled

By: Eli Meier

I travel around the world

Almost every day swept up by the ocean waves

Always wondering where I will go next

Sometimes it's good to wonder

Other times not so much

I wish I was a bird

So I could travel the world

Go up and over the clouds

Watch sunsets and sunrises

But no

I am stuck in the form of a shell

The Swing

By: Gabby Geracitano

The swing was just there

Sitting on a tree, alone

It swung by itself

The Best Part of My Life Is Non-Existent

Claire Aliggayu

Fighting monsters and dragons with my best friend,

Knowing I have someone who will ride or die to the end.

Having my mind have no forethought on actions,

However, I always have a happy satisfaction.

Having fun and the dangerous task being risky that we could die,

However, still having laughter makes an overflow of tears in our eyes.

Going across the world with all full adventures,

The sky having the brightest blue with the shining sun,

Everything just feels so alive and fun.

Only to realize none of it was never real,

Seeing a blank sheet screaming at me,

delivering an overwhelming feeling.

Open eyes

By: Goldie Philipp

When we open our eyes

in the morning, that is,

we might see a wall,

while some see a blank canvas,

Possibly a punching bag.

When we open our eyes,

we might see another beautiful creation,

Another human being.

Mabey a sister or a brother,

mortal enemy or a best friend.

Some of us reach over and grasp an item,

A screen, a cup of coffee.

While some slam an alarm clock.

When most wake they think of;

What time is it? Where am I;

What must I do today?

When I open my eyes

I see a large wall,

A comfy bed and cozy covers.

As I take in my surroundings,

I think to myself;

I have opened my eyes to another day.

In a world and country

By: Liliana Jones

In a world that is filled with

darkness and hatred

be the

light and kindness

in a country that is

divided

be the

bridge to connect it

In a world that is in a

Thunderstorm

Be the

The rainbow that comes after

In a country that is strong

Be the

Softness to even out the strength

In a world and country that is gray be a rainbow and stand out

The Shadow of My Thoughts

I sit

Staring out the window

Eyes are swollen

Heart is pounding

Hands flying

Tears drying

I want to scream at the universe

Rain pours

Like the storm in my head

I am not safe with myself

I break myself down

Make myself believe

I am nothing

I am nobody

I am alone

People around me try to help

But fail

I feel like a shadow

Existent but fading away

As a cloud covers the sun;

And the sun is my happiness

My thoughts are full of dark clouds

I am weak

A shadow has no power

No control

Neither do I

When the storm that I made rolls in

I don’t try to fix it because I believe I can’t

I keep feeding the monster instead

I cringe every time I speak

Or think

Or sleep

Or try

I haven’t been doing much of those lately

Unless for a second I forget I exist

Do I want to have to forget to feel free?

No

Do I think that I have to?

Yes

A shadow has no control

The storm of thunder and lightning

And clouds

Is too great for my broken soul
