Farm Field Trips

Districtwide Field Trip Partnership

Third graders from across the Bethel School District have the opportunity to participate in farm field trips, led by Kalapuya High School students and staff. These field trips are designed to offer elementary schoolers a taste of farm life, and give high school students leadership and facilitation experience.

3rd and 4th Grade Field Trips

3rd and 4th grade students from Clear Lake, Danebo, Meadowview, Prairie Mountain, Fairfield, and Malabon Elementary Schools come to the Bethel Farm for an interactive farm experience field trip.

Kalapuya High School students design and implement these trips, which include a cooking component, a helping task, and a farm exploration station. Before each field trip, KHS students visit the participating students in their classroom for a lesson on our Food System. Elementary students are exposed to concepts surrounding the benefits of eating locally and the justice issues faced by farmworkers in our and other communities.

KHS students work with a Master Beekeeper to capture wild bee swarms from around the school district during late spring, early summer swarm season!
