REMINDER:
If your child requires the use of an emergency rescue medication (EpiPen, Inhaler,) please make note of the following:
1. If your child is self-carrying the medication (EpiPen, Inhaler), he/she must have an annual order signed by the doctor and parent and kept on file in the BHS/BMS Health Office. This medication needs to be brought with the student to all athletic contests, practices, bus rides, etc.
2. According to Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies, Title 10. Education and Culture, Sec. 10-212a-8., “During intramural and interscholastic athletic events, a coach or licensed athletic trainer may administer medication for select students for whom self- administration plans are not viable.” In this case, the parent/guardian must provide the coach or licensed athletic trainer with the medication. This medication is separate from the medication stored in the school health office for use during the school day. These students must also have an annual order signed by the doctor and parent and kept on file in the BHS/BMS Health Office.
3. In both cases, the school nurse will provide the coach with a copy of the student’s Emergency Care Plan.
