Course Description: This introductory class can be taken as a standalone course or be part of the digital media pathway. The goal of the course is for the student to develop the ability to capture great audio, video, and to be able to edit those two elements together to tell a story. Students will learn how to work with video cameras, lights, microphones, and a variety of video editing software. Students enrolled in the course will experience being in front of and behind the camera. The course is designed to provide students the opportunity to explore a wide range of audio and video production techniques and technologies.


Advanced Cinema / Video Production .5 Credit

Prerequisite: Video Production I and teacher recommendation

Open to: Grades 10, 11, 12

Course Description: In this course, students will enhance their skills with video cameras, lighting equipment, sound equipment, and video editing software. Through critical analysis and practical experience students will deal with the complete process of creating both in school and in the field video productions. Throughout the year the student is required to identify and describe established techniques to create these videos. Students will learn how to raise their standards of technical and aesthetic quality in these productions. They will also learn the specifics of how to plan and manage large-scale productions. Students achieving competency in this course will be prepared to enter a film or broadcasting program at the college level.
