Course Description: Students will study important aspects of managing their personal finances. Students will learn how to draft financial smart goals, create a budget, manage credit responsibly, and save for the future. Topics include banking services, spending plans, borrowing decisions, and investments. Students will complete self-paced tutorials and participate in experiential learning activities that complement instruction. Personal Finance is required for graduation.

Course Description: The International Business course is designed to give students a realistic look into the challenges of a global economy. Students will use case studies and current events to examine cultural spheres of influence, economics, and politics related to trade and markets, corporate strategy, communication, and ethics.
Essentials of Economics (UCONN ECE) .5 Credit

Course Description: This college-level course exposes students to the economic way of thinking. Students develop an informed perspective on global economic challenges by applying microeconomic models and macroeconomic theory to explain current topics in globalization, trade, and labor markets. Topics include opportunity cost, supply and demand fundamentals, market failure, and comparative advantage. Students will have the opportunity to apply for UCONN college credit in the UCONN Early College Experience (ECE) program and should refer to the UCONN ECE program materials for the registration process and related fees.

Course Description: This course presents students with a basic knowledge of business organization, accounting concepts, and procedures. The course covers the fundamental principles of the accounting cycle, including analyzing business transactions, payroll, and preparing basic financial statements. The course will delve into spreadsheets, systems, and a “real world” simulation for a startup company.

Course Description: Students will learn how to form business plans and evaluate their operating, financing, and investing decisions, as well as how accounting systems gather and provide data to internal and external decision makers. Topics include accounting information systems, debt and equity, financial ratios, and more.
Marketing I: Fundamentals .5 Credit

Course Description: Fundamentals of Marketing is the introductory course in the marketing program which presents students with a basic knowledge of marketing. Students will explore marketing’s role in business, and they will learn about the concepts of promotion, selling, and product and service management. All students enrolled will be required to be active members of FBLA. This program requires a payment of annual dues. Students will be expected to participate in the state DECA competition and fill leadership roles in the FBLA organization.
Marketing II: Applications .5 Credit

Course Description: This course is a continuation of the marketing track for students interested in majoring in marketing, finance, or business in college. Due to the curricular components of this course, all students enrolled will be required to be active members of FBLA. It requires a payment of annual dues. Students will be expected to participate in the state FBLA competition and fill leadership roles in the FBLA organization.
