Drawing I: Expressive Figures and Pen & Collage Portraits

Earlier this semester, Drawing I students reviewed various pen techniques and created a portrait of someone they know using the techniques of their choice.  They worked from a photo they took themselves and then created some kind of collage background to help enhance the portrait.  Then we moved on to figure drawing for a few days and then the challenge for their next project was to choose a feeling or emotion they wanted to express and then find a way to convey that emotion with a human figure. It was really fun to see the results! I'm continually amazed by these artists.

Paper Mâché Animal Heads

Intro to 3D Art

Earlier this fall the Intro to 3D Art students created incredible animal head relief sculptures using cardboard and paper mâché. This is such a creative class!  I think the details on these sculptures really make them stand out.
