Fall Festival (repeat)
Our Fall Festival will be on Tuesday, October 21st from 5:00-6:30 pm. Each grade level is asked to provide a game that night. We will also have a SEL activity and a book walk! There will be a surprise for the best decorated Fall classroom door. And food trucks of course! We are hoping to create a welcoming space for families, students, and staff to come together in a fun and relaxed setting, so we can strengthen relationships beyond the classroom. By celebrating together, families and staff get to know one another better, foster a sense of belonging, and build our mustang pride. It should be a very fun night!! Ms. Dostart has already signed up for the soda ring toss and Ms. Serrato will be hosting a cake walk. Pre-K will be hosting a lollipop toss. If you need students to bring items, let me know, and I'll put it in our Weekly Roundup!

The New Mexico Public Education Department, in partnership with Scholastic Education, is launching an exciting new opportunity for kindergarten educators. This new four-part training series is designed to reduce chronic absenteeism. Please note that there are limited spots available for eligible districts.
The Attendance Learning Pathway is designed to strengthen Kindergarten teachers' ability to engage families in easy ways that support their children's learning and development. Through a series of four engaging, interactive modules, educators will explore concrete, research-informed strategies that are both practical and easy to implement. Each session will spotlight voices from the field and highlight promising practices that demonstrate successful home-school partnerships.
Each participant will receive 3 Professional Learning Books, as well as 4 read-aloud books for their classroom.
By the end of the series, Kindergarten teachers will leave with a toolkit of high-impact practices and a deeper understanding of how to engage families as true partners to increase student outcomes and strengthen attendance.
Join us for a 30-minute informational session to discover how you can become a member of the new Kindergarten Family Partnership Cohort. You'll learn all the details surrounding this exciting new opportunity.

Please remind your students to be quiet in the hallways. As you finish Amira (ELA) & Istation Legacy (Math), please let me know. Third grade students will be taking on the iMSSA test on Wednesday and Thursday of next week. I have enjoyed looking at DATA! Woot! Woot!! This gives us a base/foundation on what our students know and how we can best support them on their learning journey.
Lunch
We were starting a new lunch check-in system, but it has been put on hold. More details about the new program will be given shortly (tweaking is happening at the moment).

PLCs - Thank you for bringing your positivity, knowledge, and willingness to grow together! We want PLC time to be something we look forward to--not just another meeting, but a chance to share, learn, and find real value in our collaboration. I appreciate your openness and commitment to making this time meaningful for everyone.
Thank you to Ms. Serrato, Ms. Espinoza, Ms. Martinez, and Ms. Cigga who will be our after school tutors this year!
Thank you to all teachers and staff for encouraging attendance. We are continuing to lead in the district with the best attendance so far this school year (97%!!)! Let's keep it up!
Thank you again to Guadalupe who continues to work without extra help. 😔 We are in need of a part-time custodian and a kindergarten EA. Please spread the word if you know someone who is interested. Both positions are posted on the Bernalillo Public School Website.
Remember if you have someone who has gone above & beyond-send me an email, and I'll make sure to recognize them in the next staff bulletin.
Progress Reports
Progress reports are scheduled for this Friday, but we will not have Istation/Amira data to share. You can wait to give out progress reports until you have more data (hopefully by next week).
34th Annual Multicultural Red Ribbon Relay Run
On Thursday, September 4th around 2:00 (I will make an announcement as runners get close...), we will be cheering on runners participating in the relay. They are making a special stop at Algodones to give high five to students along their path. We will have students in the grassy area near the front of our school, runners will continue through our parking log along their route. Decorating posters and cheering on runners is highly encouraged!
Testing
Jennifer has given us the green light! She said -
"We have completed the Amira Learning upload which includes reading and math. You and your students will access through Clever.
When students sign in, they will see Amira Reading and Math ISIP.
When prompted, they will choose:
Amira Reading
Math ISIP
Testing guidance: Please make sure headphones and microphones are working.
Amira Reading listens to students read. We recommend testing in small groups or dividing your class in half. For the first time, it may help to test only 2-3 students to get comfortable with the platform.
Math ISIP will run as usual, and you can test the whole class at once.
Please be patient as we all learn how to navigate this new platform. Teacher training will be provided soon. I am currently working with Amira to schedule a training session and additional support. More information will be shared shortly."
We have until September 30th to test students - so don't worry if it is not in your plans this week. We have time. And, please let me know if you need headphones! Students will need to turn off their Chromebooks and restart computers before testing.
Picture Day
Picture day will not be on Friday, September 12th. It will be on Friday, October 3rd. I did not realize Pre-K would not be here that day, so we rescheduled to have our littlest of students with us on picture day!
After School Tutoring
We will begin after school tutoring on Monday, September 22nd. If you could please advertise this opportunity through Class Dojo, and we will also communicate with parents via the Weekly Roundup. We will send a personal invitation for students who need it most, the week of the 15th.
Walkthrough (repeat)
I will be conducting walkthroughs during the next couple of weeks. I wanted to give you an idea of the things I will be looking for. I will focus on Phase 1 of the Get Better Faster Scope and Sequence, so I'll be looking for routines & classroom management, lesson launch & directions, student engagement, teacher presence & tone, and feedback & corrections.
Self-Reflection (repeat)
Your self-reflection will be due August 29th. Remember—teachers are often our own toughest critics, and we already know where we need to grow. Please be intentional with your reflection and goal-setting, so I can best support you in reaching both where you want to be and where you need to be.
Weekend Access (repeat)
You are more than welcome to come to campus on the weekends between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. We just ask three things of you, please text Greg or I to let us know you are there, and text when you leave as well. Last year on my campus in Alaska, the electricity went out one evening, and my co-teacher was stuck in the elevator. And just like AES, the reception wasn't the best, so even though she had her cell phone, she didn't have reception. Luckily, our band teacher was there and heard her commotion to be able to help. We just want to make sure that no one is stuck in the elevator at AES (especially on the weekends). Second, please make sure all the lights are turned off when you leave, and third, please make sure the building is secure once you leave. The doors have a tendency to stay open because of the air flow, so just give it that extra tug. Let me know if you have any questions.
