Maker Design Expo

PREP & T-PREP Maker Design Expo

Friday August 9, 2024

145 Dwinelle Hall

The Maker Design Studio (MDS) is an intensive short-course for incoming Berkeley Engineering freshman and transfer students created by UC Berkeley Professor Scott Moura. This design and innovation-focused module is part of  the summer programs at UC Berkeley called PREP (Pre-Engineering Program) and T-PREP (Transfer Pre-Engineering Program). MDS teaches students to rapidly ideate, design and prototype innovative engineering systems. To this end, we use the "Sprint" design process recently popularized within the start-up community.

Groups present their product pitches to a panel of judges, Shark Tank-style at the final day of the Pre-Engineering Program and the Transfer Pre-Engineering Program.
