Academic Support

Academic Classes

During PREP, you will be placed in 2 of the following 4 classes: Precalculus or Calculus, Chemistry or Computer Science. Program Manager Britt Mazorra will reach out to you to let you know what classes you'll be taking before the start of the program.

Our classes are taught by fellow students called Learning Facilitators. They each have unique expertise and experience in the subject they are teaching and are here to support you in building a strong foundation in the material!

Isaac Romero (Calculus Facilitator)

"Hey everyone my name is Isaac Romero and I am a second year EECS major. I am extremely excited about PREP because I get to connect with students that have a similar background to me and would love to help and see them succeed!" 

Amanda Sayaseng (Computer Science Facilitator)

"Hi my name is Amanda and I am a senior studying EECS. I am super excited to be teaching PREP CS this summer! Transitioning to UC Berkeley can be both exciting and daunting, I hope to help ease that transition and help you feel prepared and confident for the upcoming semester." 

Karla Castro Rosales (Precalculus Facilitator)

"I am a first-generation rising senior studying Conservation Resource Studies + Data Science. I am excited for the opportunity to support incoming students to establish themselves and build confidence in their skills. Instead of making STEM a seemingly daunting learning experience, I want to encourage a rather achievable learning environment for students of all demographics. Can’t wait to meet yall!"

Emmanuel Matute (Chemistry Facilitator)

"Hi, my name is Emmanuel Matute and I'll be your PREP Chemistry Learning Facilitator! I'm a second year EECS major and a 2023 PREP alum. I'm excited to be able to give back to PREP and see what ideas the incoming class has." 

Tutoring

During the program, we have tutors dedicated to supporting PREP students. Whether you are working on homework, have a question about a topic from your class, or just want to study with your friends, come to the Center for Access to Engineering Excellence any time Monday through Thursday from 5-8pm to get the tutoring support you need!
