Workup of Organic Layer from Solution G

Wash the organic layer with brine. Dry with sodium sulfate. Then weigh a clean and dry filter flask, and use this to filter and evaporate off the solvent to obtain solid H.

This video shows a large test tube with a colorless liquid. A second liquid is added that forms a separate layer below the first. A pipet is then used to mix the two layers by drawing up the lower layer and expelling it into the top layer. The layers are allowed to separate.
