Wash with Brine and Dry with Sodium Sulfate

Wash the organic layer A3 with brine (2 mL). Set aside the brine layer. Dry the organic layer I with sodium sulfate and label this solution J.

A pipet is then used to mix the two layers by drawing up the lower layer and expelling it into the top layer. The layers are allowed to separate and a wispy white precipitate forms at the interface. A pipet is then used to remove the lower layer.
