It can be useful to perform a rough titration in which your goal is to quickly perform a single titration at the cost of accuracy. In a rough titration, titrant is added more quickly and less carefully than a normal titration. While it is more than likely that a rough titration will overshoot the end point, that is, use more volume of titrant than necessary, this will provide data to calculate an approximate concentration. The approximate concentration can be used, in turn, to predict the end point for any additional titrations, which will save time and resources in the long run.
