In this experiment, you will determine the concentration of a hydrochloric acid solution using indicator titration. This process is also called standardizing a solution.
You will use volumetric glassware (pipet and flask) to dilute a hydrochloric acid solution of unknown concentration.
You will assemble a titration apparatus using a buret, buret clamp and ring stand. You will then perform titrations by adding the dilute HCl from Part 1 to a Na2CO3 solution to determine the concentration of the initial concentrated HCl solution that was diluted. The indicator used is thymol blue.
