The purpose of a blank is to measure the inherent absorbance of the solvent being used for your dilutions and your extraction even if that solvent appears clear and colorless. In this case, because the curcumin is dissolved in ethanol and ethanol will be used for the extraction in part 2, you should use the same chemical for the blank.
