READ BEFORE YOU FLY!
Safety is extremely important when operating drones or other equipment used to acquire imaging. There are risks of falling equipment, harming curious wildlife, collisions, or being struck down.
Weather
Always check the weather report while planning your survey, and before arriving at the survey site.
Bad weather can disrupt the data, or create safety hazards; it is important to avoid high wind and strong rain or hail. Additionally, outdoor temperatures and humidity may affect the functionality of equipment or reduce battery life.
Airspace
Before flying drones, large balloons or kites, it is important to know if you are safe to fly in your airspace.
If operating a drone and non-commercial purposes: take the TRUST certification course and exam offered online through the FAA here.
If operating a commercial drone: obtain FAA Part 107 Certification. You can find information on the Part 107 process here.
Download the B4UFLY app here to check if your airspace is restricted.
