Software and the production of images and data warrant special consideration, particularly when working with communities and sacred sites. Software providers like Web ODM are great because they’re free; however, they’re open source and may not be as secure as programs like Agisoft Metashape that require professional licensing.
Web ODM is an open source image processor that turns camera images into 2D and 3D geographic data. ODM is able to run on all major computer platforms and supports a variety of imaging outputs such as: orthorectified imagery, digital surface and digital terrain maps, textured 3D models, as well as point clouds. However, Web ODM's open source software may not be approriate for sensitive site information.
Agisoft Metashape is an image processing software that generates 3D spatial data for: GIS, land documentation, and visual effects. Agisoft Cloud is a paid online platform offered by Agisoft Metashape and requires a Metashape Professional license. Agisoft Cloud allows for users to send preconfigured processing tasks with their corresponding images/files. Though expensive compared to its open source counterpart, Metashape has the security needed for sensitive site information.
