Performed by an independent psychologist. This testing includes: WISC V (Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children), achievement testing, observation information, and more.
It is possible that you may have had a WISC V completed by Benchmark School. However, this is not a complete test battery and would not be sufficient for most school applications or for applying for accommodations for admissions exams like the ISEE.
Testing should be no more than 3 years old when applying for the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) and most independent schools prefer testing that is no more than 2 years old.
Benchmark School does not recommend particular psychologists or practices. However, we do try to maintain a list of area providers.
Click here for some area test providers.
The average range for a comprehensive psychoeducational test is between $3,500 and $4,500. In some practices, less experienced testers/interns may range closer to $2,000, while the most experienced testers may range closer to $5,000. If your child has had an IEP from your school district, you may be able to have testing done by the district. See the area provider list for some lower cost options, such as area universities. Benchmark can also arrange to have the DCIU provide testing, though note that you will not get the level of personalized feedback you would from a private tester.
There is no need to practice for this test; it is about potential, not about “achievement today.”
Please plan to have the complete report by September 1 in order to be sure you have time to apply for ISEE accommodations.
