Understanding Your Child

When: Winter of 7th grade through fall of 8th grade

What to do:

• Update your child's testing, as needed.

  • Students applying to independent/boarding schools need a comprehensive psychoeducational evaluation that is no more than 2-3 years old at time of application.

  • An email is sent to all 7th grade parents in December or January with information about current testing needs. Contact Dr. MacDonald if you have any questions.

• Use the 7th grade March conference and 8th grade October conference, along with other resources, to get a sense of your child's current academic strengths, challenges, and needs.

  • Some questions to consider:

    • How much support does my child need? (Remember that there is a good deal of support built-in to the Benchmark program. Does your child need more than the usual support?) If so, what kind?
