The Presenters

Michael Clark (he/him)

When a team can't deliver feedback to each other, progress on shared goals is often stifled, muddied, or worse, flat-out stalled for far too long. Michael developed his passion for creating positive feedback cultures while working for mission-driven organizations, like AmeriCorps NCCC and Amnesty International USA.

Currently, Michael serves as the Site Director for the BASEC @ Maynard before- and after-school programs, where he first offered feedback training but now implements them organization-wide.

Michael holds an MBA in Social Impact and an MA in Sustainable International Development from Brandeis University’s Heller School of Social Policy and Management. He earned his BA from the College of William & Mary.

Jeremy Conlin (he/him)

Jeremy, an all-around swell guy (citation needed), has worked in youth programming for the last 15 years. Jeremy, a Belmont native, previously worked for BASEC @ Chenery, Belmont's upper elementary program, where he supported student academics in Homework Club and led specialty workshops, such as "Magic," the card game.

Since BASEC, Jeremy has served as a director for various summer camps and afterschool programs around the Boston area, where he has developed a portfolio of "icebreakers," helping unite teams of OST teachers through fun and laughter.

Best part of the job, he'll say, is that he's paid to play dodgeball with kids, and you just can't beat that!

Trevor Donahue (he/him)

Four years ago, Trevor transitioned from an academic-focused position at BASEC @ Chenery, the upper elementary program in Belmont, to the program's STEM specialist. Inspired by his partner's teaching philosophy (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) as well as the work of MIT professor Mitchel Resnick, Trevor began incorporating student choice into as many of his new STEM projects. Over time, this interest grew into an obsession, and what was a few projects expanded into a full-time makerspace.

Annie Gladfelter (she/her)

Annie is the Director of Impact for BASEC, and within the umbrella of this role, she oversees the organization's professional development vision, strategy, and implementation. She is also BASEC's lead trainer, facilitating annual workshops in the Nurtured Heart Approach, Relationship Mapping (from Harvard University's Making Caring Common Project), and Backwards Design lesson planning.

Annie is in her tenth year with BASEC, and has worked in the out-of-school time field for almost 20 years. Prior to joining BASEC, Annie was an elementary school teacher, but afterschool programming -- and the profound relationships it fosters and its impact on children's lives -- has always been what she is most passionate about.

Beck Govoni (she/they)

Beck is the Assistant Director of the Belmont BASEC middle school program, BASEC @ BMS.

She has been working in out-of-school time for over 7 years. Her first program was an afterschool for unhoused youth where she received trauma-informed care training.

Beck has a certificate in Healing Centered Engagement and was previously awarded for her work with college students with disabilities.

Through her work, Beck prioritizes young people's mental health care.

Andrew McLean (he/him)

Andrew has worked for Belmont BASEC in an academic support role for 5 years. He began with BASEC @ Chenery, the upper elementary program, and then moved to the high school program, BASEC @ BHS, at the beginning of this school year.

Before BASEC, Andrew was a classroom teacher in middle and high schools. In his work, he draws from lessons he learned as a youth soccer coach, parent, corporate trainer, academic researcher, and summer camp program director.

Andrew is passionately curious about how "the magic gets done" -- how we each make unique contributions that result in a cohesive program that is more than the sum of its parts.

Jairo Molina (he/him)

Jairo is a former science teacher who is currently an after-school educator at the Belmont BASEC upper elementary program, BASEC @ Chenery.

He loves creating quick and easy-to-implement activities that are fun, engaging, and educational. He focuses on experiences that spark curiosity, laughter, and connection -- ensuring students genuinely enjoy their time in the program.

Jairo is passionate about sharing practical, ready-to-use activities that bring joy, energy, and excitement to any learning space.

Felisia Sainz (she/they)

Felisia "Feliz" Sainz is a lifelong visual artist celebrating 9 years as the Visual Arts Specialist for BASEC @ Burbank, the Belmont lower elementary program. Over the last couple of years, Felisia has expanded her work and collaborated with Maddie Speagle, BASEC @ Burbank Performing Arts Specialist, to create and lead the Adventure Club.

Her passions include cultural education, fostering the development of young activists, and creating safe spaces where every student can feel seen, loved, and allowed to be silly.

Maddie Speagle (they/them)

Maddie is the Performing Arts Specialist for BASEC @ Burbank. They teach music, acting, and theater arts at the lower elementary school level in Belmont.

Maddie values working with the other curriculum specialists (Visual Art, STEM, and Sports) at their site to provide a well-rounded, enriching creative environment for young students. Driven by their own love of Dungeons & Dragons and fantasy stories, one of their favorite collaborations is Adventure Club, an elementary-level, D&D-inspired role-playing game that they co-designed with Felisia Sainz, BASEC @ Burbank Visual Arts Specialist.

All in all, Maddie strives to make BASEC a warm and accepting place for kids to explore their interests and feel comfortable being their whole selves.
