Support for Parents & Carers
Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP)
If your child is on the SEND register, and requires additional and specialist support which is significantly above and beyond their peers, an EHCP may be requested. If you feel your child would benefit from an EHCP, or have any questions ab out the process, please speak to the school SENDCo. The videos below also explain the process if you want to find out more.
SENDIAS EHCP Workshop
SENDIAS are running another webinar for making EHCP requests.
This will be held virtually on Thursday 22nd February @ 4.30pm.
On completion of the workshop, parents will be sent a bundle of information from us to help their EHCP journey.
If parents/carers have interest in attending, please contact us on Harrow.sendias@family-action.org.uk
My SEND File
Being organised with all your paperwork for your child is so important. It helps you understand all the services provided to your child and shows professionals you know your child best!
If you are interested in making your own SEND file for your child, we have a master copy in the office. Speak to one of our parent ambassadors for more information.

Supporting Emotional Wellbeing
The zones of regulation are used across our school to help our children identify, name and regulate their emotions. Try using the zones at home if your child is finding it difficult to communicate how they are feeling. Remember, it is ok to be in any zone and there is no 'correct' zone to be in.
We extend this using the ROAR programme.
Recognise - What emotion are you feeling? How do you know?
Origin - What started this feeling? Go all the way back!
Act - How are you going to deal with it? You could do a:
Me Change - change my behaviour
Mindset Change - change my mindset or perspective
Hand it over - talk to a trusted adult
Release - What strategies can you use to release the emotion and move on?
If you have questions about ROAR, you can ask your child's class teacher.

Communication and Core Boards
We use communication and/or core boards with our students to help them communicate their wants and needs. Some of our core boards are generic and can be used across different contexts whereas some of them are designed for a specific game or activity. The main 80 cell core board is below for you to print and use at home. Remember, you will mainly be modelling rather than expecting your child to use it at first, and over time they will become more confident. Binding tabs can make the core board more specific - speak to your class teacher for information about these.
Children will only use core boards if they are being seen by the speech and language therapist and it is one of their targets, however visuals are useful for everyone so it will not harm to use them!
If you have any questions, please do come and speak to one of the team and we can go through it with you.
