Career Exploration

BHS uses Naviance to assist students with career exploration. This includes a variety of career interest inventories and access to career information and interviews. For example, all 9th graders complete a “strengths inventory” and all 10th graders complete “Do What You Are.” Results are saved and available to students in their Naviance accounts. Please contact your students counselor for more information.

Manchester School of Technology

Bedford High School Students have the opportunity to attend the Manchester School of Technology (MST) to further explore additional career opportunities. Students learn more about these opportunities during their Sophomore year prior to making their course selections for the following year. Students who choose to attend an MST program are provided transportation to and from BHS to attend their chosen class.

Military

Students who may be considering military enlistment (full time or reserves) should click on the appropriate links to find out more information about each branch and their specific requirements. Also, each November we offer the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery). The ASVAB is a well-respected aptitude test developed by the Department of Defense. It measures a young adult’s strengths and potential for success in military training. There is no obligation to join the military by taking this exam. This exam can offer some great career insights. ASVAB sign ups will occur in the counseling office. Please reach out to your counselor for more information.

Gap Year

Unsure of your next steps after high school or interested in taking a year off from classroom learning? Here are some options to make the most out of your year. Also, each Spring, the counseling office hosts a Gap Year Fair to give students an opportunity to discuss options with representatives from various programs.
