CREATIVE ARTS Head Start Programme

Tuesday 2 & Tuesday 9 June

The Creative Arts Head Start Programme is for all students thinking of studying creative subjects at A Level and beyond. If you are a budding Film Maker, future Architect, Fashion Photographer, Product Designer or the next Pablo Picasso there will be something on offer for you.

Over the course of two days, you can learn from the expertise of the Art, Media & Design Technology teachers to gain an insight into your creative futures. We also welcome those students who haven’t considered creative subjects before – maybe it will unleash the creative in you!

Learn about Semiotics in media, design your own brand, create a soundscape for film, camera hacks and junk creation – a variety of creative sessions including practical and theory. Gain a Head Start on your creative career or just enjoy a creative challenge in lockdown.

  • Learn about careers and university options in the creative industries

  • See the success of Bede’s Alumni including Architecture, Graphic Design, Fine Art, Photography, Prop Design & Computer Game Design

  • Gain an introduction to creating Portfolios for university applications

The World of Film & Media

  • Recreate the entire soundscape for a famous scene from a movie. Discover the importance of sound, sound effects, layering of sound and mixing. Perfect for students who are interested in giving their future projects in Media Studies that professional quality

  • Explore how Advertising work and how we are manipulated through the use of media

Three Dimensional Design, Ceramics & Sculpture

  • Gain a stronger understanding of the historical and contemporary elements of Ceramics

  • Students will have the opportunity to experiment with materials to engage with a project that links to the A-Z of Ceramics

  • Once you have signed up you will receive some clay in the post (International students will be able to use other materials)

  • Test your problem-solving skills in the Household Junk Challenge

Illustration, Photography & Brand Building

  • Development your free hand skills – essential for future illustrators and fine artists

  • Discover inspired camera tricks and tip that will take your images to the next level

  • Consider and start to discover how to build your own brand identity

  • Creating Sound for TV/Film: A workshop where you will discover the importance of sound, sound effects, layering of sound and mixing.
