The following skills reflect what students are expected to know or demonstrate by the conclusion of the school year.

Kindergarten

I can demonstrate motor skill proficiency in a variety of physical activities.

  • I can perform locomotor skills while maintaining balance (walk, run, gallop, hop, slide, jump).
  • I can perform non-locomotor skills (balance, weight transfer, levels).
  • I can demonstrate emerging manipulative skills (ex. underhand toss, catch, ball control, kick, strike, volley, hand dribble, foot dribble, jump rope).
  • I can follow a teacher-led rhythmic activity.


1st Grade

I can demonstrate motor skill proficiency in a variety of physical activities.

  • I can perform locomotor skills in a mature pattern (walk, run, gallop, hop, slide, jump).
  • I can perform non-locomotor skills (balance, weight transfer, levels).
  • I can demonstrate emerging manipulative skills (ex. underhand toss, catch, ball control, kick, strike, volley, hand dribble, foot dribble, jump rope).
  • I can continue locomotor and non-locomotor skills in a rhythmic activity.


2nd Grade

I can demonstrate motor skill proficiency in a variety of physical activities.

  • I can perform locomotor skills in a mature pattern (walk, run, gallop, hop, slide, skip, jump).
  • I can perform a combination of non-locomotor skills in a sequence.
  • I can demonstrate emerging manipulative skills (ex. underhand toss, overhand throw, catch, ball control, kick, strike with an implement, volley, hand dribble, foot dribble, jump rope.)
  • I can perform locomotor and non-locomotor skills in a rhythmic activity.


3rd Grade

I can demonstrate motor skill proficiency in a variety of physical activities.

  • I can perform locomotor skills in a mature pattern (run, gallop, hop, slide, skip, jump, leap)
  • I can perform a combination of non-locomotor skills in a sequence or performance.
  • I can demonstrate mature manipulative skills (ex. underhand toss, overhand throw, catch, ball control, kick, strike with an implement, volley, hand dribble, foot dribble, jump rope).
  • I can perform rhythmic steps and movement patterns.


4th Grade

I can demonstrate motor skill proficiency in a variety of physical activities.

  • I can apply a combination of locomotor skills in a variety of settings.
  • I can perform a combination of non-locomotor skills in a sequence or performance with a partner.
  • I can demonstrate mature manipulative skills and apply some in an authentic activity (ex. underhand toss, overhand throw, catch, ball control, kick, strike with an implement, volley, hand dribble, foot dribble, jump rope).
  • I can create an original rhythmic routine.


5th Grade

I can demonstrate motor skill proficiency in a variety of physical activities.

  • I can apply a combination of locomotor skills in a variety of settings.
  • I can perform a combination of non-locomotor skills in a sequence or performance with a group.
  • I can demonstrate mature manipulative skills and apply some in an authentic activity (ex. underhand toss, overhand throw, catch, ball control, kick, strike with an implement, volley, hand dribble, foot dribble, jump rope).
  • I can create an original rhythmic routine in a group.
