Learning Targets & Grades

BSD Grading in PE

The Beaverton School District focuses on three areas of development in the content of Physical Education. The three areas are physical skills, fitness concepts, and social skills. Students are graded on their individual proficiency levels for each of the three areas. When it comes to report cards, students in Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade are given scores for their development in the areas of Physical Skills and Social Skills. Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade are given scores for their development in Physical Skills, Fitness Concepts, and Social Skills.

Levels of Responsibility

At Sato, the social skills grade is derived from what we call the "Levels of Responsibility". There are 4 levels that match the proficiency grading scale of the district and each one has it's own characteristics and behaviors. Students always get a fresh start when they come to PE and start off as a Level 3. If a student is wearing non-appropriate PE shoes, then they become a level 2 because they are not prepared to learn and participate in class. Students move levels depending on their behavior and it can change from class to class. For more specific details, click the button below!
