Welcome to 2nd Grade music class. Your teacher is Mrs. Shaw. We will have a lot of fun learning about music this year!! In 2nd grade we continue to learn about music notes and how to read rhythms. We are introduced half and sixteenth notes and rests as well as tied notes while discussing musical tempos, dynamics, and forms. We sing and compose with solfa and singing hand-signs while accompanying ourselves on various percussion instruments and singing in a variety of musical styles and cultures. We also spend time learning about the instruments of the orchestra and instrument families.
