BW: 1) pg 615 Why does the Progressive movement lose momentum? 2) What are the MAIN causes of WWI? (think back) 3) pg 656 What is the "trigger" event of WWI?

Class: Notes up to Slide 15 on WWI. Then we watched these two videos- the first helps us think about what many Americans thought the war would be like; the second showing us the reality of what it was like.


TUES OCT 30

BW: pg 680 1)Why are certain immigrant groups targeted at this time? 2) What actions show that this is happening?

Class: Today we looked at how Civil Liberties can be challenged during war-time, in particular looking at the case Schenck v. the United States. The worksheet is on Google Classroom, but the source packet is in the classroom. We will continue working on this tomorrow.

WEDS OCT 31

BW: pg 667-668 1) What is the Selective Service Act? 2) Describe how 3 different minority groups contributed to the war effort.

Class: Time to finish up sourcework from yesterday. Due tomorrow.


THURS NOV 1

BW: Please read The Great Migration pg 681-683 and create a Push/Pull chart and a Cause/Effect chart with 2 bullet points in each column.

Class: After going through the bellwork, students got a blue sheet that is a graphic organizer regarding the end of WWI and the Paris Peace Conference. You will want to get the sheet off the back table and check in with a tablemate. There will be about 15 minutes to finish up tomorrow. If you are looking for a "jump start" read the section that begins on page 689 up to the end.
