Soc 4/8- 4/12

This week was an odd schedule with State Testing.

You need to make sure you have the following Bellwork complete- don't worry about dates;

A) Using pg 194, please create a chart that breaks down the key characteristics of the sub-groups of the Middle Class: Upper Middle, Lower Middle, and Working Class. Please make sure to check in with a classmate as there are a few things that I added that are not found in the text book.

B) Watch this video. 1) What is the message in this video about how open or closed American society is? 2) What is something you found surprising? OR Why is nothing in this video surprising to you?

C) Watch this video. 1) What is happening to the size of the middle class? 2) Why do we care about the "health" of the middle class? 3) What does each major social class do with it's money?

You need to make sure you have the following Classwork completed:

A) Your Born Rich Advantages/Disadvantages chart is turned in to the tray

B) We did some article reading regarding how we define the Middle Class. You need to get the worksheet and articles from Ms. C. 3 articles are required, you have the option of doing a 4th for extra credit

C) We started watching Two American Families to look at the Working Class. Students started a chart to examine the Financial, Social, Emotional, and Physical hardships and challenges that these families face. Check in with Ms. C or a classmate if you are unsure about the chart. This chart should be turned in to the tray.
