HONOR BAND OPPORTUNITIES

Students in 7th and 8th grade will have several opportunities this year to participate in various honors bands. As the name implies, to be nominated and selected for an honor band is a special accomplishment and we encourage many of our students to look into the different honor band opportunities this year.

Who participates in an honor band?

An honor band is comprised of students from many different schools. Some honor bands are just for schools near Beavercreek while others are open to any student in the state. Honor bands are designed to feature the top students from each school. It is an opportunity for students to interact with fellow musicians, play challenging music, and learn from some very excellent directors. To participate in an honor band, you must be available for all of their dates/rehearsals. Please keep this in mind when you ask to be nominated.

How do I get into an honor band?

Each band has different requirements to be selected. For some, your director must nominate you. For others, you will be asked to play an audition. Your director will let you know what the requirements are for each band. To participate in an honor band, you must be available for all of their dates/rehearsals.
