For Prospective Students
Thank you for visiting our website and learning about our program. In the spirit of full transparency, we wanted to go over some expectations we have of our enrolled students, as well as expectations you should have of us.
Steno is never one-size-fits-all, so this program may not be a good fit for you, or it may be better when you're at a certain speed range versus another. Either way, we want to ensure you reap all the benefits you possibly can of this program, and in order to do that, some expectations must be met:
EXPECTATIONS OF THE STUDENT AT BEAST MODE STENO CAMP:
The Beast Mode student will submit their homework assignments on time according to the deadline, and most importantly, will submit quality work for each assignment rather than making a deadline for the sake of a deadline (we want you to grow and improve!)
The student will complete a set amount of hours of homework/practice per "school day" as previously agreed upon with their instructor, and these agreements will renew/can be modified monthly (this is to ensure they move forward in the program and for the instructors to better identify any plateaus/challenge areas the student may be experiencing)
Weekly tests will be fully transcribed, corrected/proofread/corrected again, and submitted in their final draft form by the deadline each week
Live class sessions will be attended by students who belong to that speed group, and if they cannot attend live, prior arrangements must be made with the instructor to attend the class via video recording by a set deadline
Polls will be responded to in a prompt manner and by the deadline
Scheduled academic advising meetings with your instructor must be attended, or a concerted effort will be made to reschedule while respecting the instructor's time (when possible)
Post-module assessment reports and post-test analysis forms will be submitted promptly and by the deadline
This is not a school and therefore has no Financial Aid department. However, you will not be permitted to stay enrolled if work is not being turned in regularly. We are more flexible and forgiving than any school you've attended because this is a private program; however, you must speak up for what you need in the moment, because as good as we are, we are not, in fact, mindreaders! We need to know when you have health issues/family troubles/financial struggles, BUT you don't have to tell us the reason. It's not our business and we don't want to make you uncomfortable.
But you must say something along the lines of a) you're struggling, and b) you need XYZ accommodations.
This is a two-way working relationship between instructor and student, and we cannot do our part if you aren't doing yours. We do not wish to continue collecting your money each month while no work gets submitted; we'd rather you get your ducks in a row and come back when you're ready to work. And this is not an easy program; it wasn't named Beast Mode Steno Camp for nothing!
That being said, we will do everything we can to help you in your steno journey, and we have a plethora of tools and techniques to enhance your practicing/test taking, and everything in between.
