Take Action & Communicate Ideas
For my Comp class this year, we had to write a paper about a controversial topic that was important to us. I chose to do the topic of abortion and reproductive freedom because I have always been intrigued by the topic. This paper was significant to my junior year because I had to look nationally at different pieces of legislation and different states' rules regarding abortion. Researching for this paper relates to JAGS because with both I felt connected to the world more.
This paper connects to the JAGS pillars Communicate Ideas as I had to go out and research about a topic I didn't really know about. I got to spread awareness about the issue and provide facts along with my own opinion about abortion through this paper. I got to communicate different ideas of legislation that I think should become real in the world.
Recognize Perspectives
For AP psychology, each unit we had to answer certain key questions about the chapters. The unit 9 key questions stood out to me because we had to research different psychological disorders and undrstand what they do. These questions stood out to me because I felt like it connected to JAGS by researching and understanding what some people have to go through in the world.
These questions connect to the JAGS pillar Recognize Perspectives as I had to understand different disorders and what people who may have them experience each day. It allowed me to understand the hardships these people have to go through in life which I felt like allowed me to understand their perspective.
Investigate the World
For Model UN, we had to represent different countries throughout the year and create different documents and resolutions. This class allowed me to truly think globally and understand the perspective of other countries which is what made it so memorable to my Junior year.
This overall class connects to the JAGS pillar Investigate the World because as I said before I got to investigate other countries and understand how their government works along with understanding their beliefs and morals. This class really brought out my most global thinking.
Investigate the World
For Statistics, we had to do a project where we looked at the prices of different houses for sale near me and see what caused them to be more expensive than others. After that we had to see the independent and dependent variables and the line of best fit.
This presentation connects to the JAGS pillar Investigate the World because I got to investigate the world by researching different houses in Ohio and understanding why some houses are more expensive in this economy compared to others.
Communicate Ideas
For AP biology, we had to pick any topic involving biology and cells that interested us. I picked a study where scientists were using worm RNA to battle diseases such as cancer. I found this very interesting because I didn't know that this was a possibility.
This presentation connects to the JAGS pillar Communicate Ideas as I got to spread the ideas of the scientists and educate people about the potential new battle against cancer. I enjoyed learning and sharing this topic with others.
