Artifact Title: Driving Diaries Podcast
Completion Date: Second Quarter
Teacher: Mr. Gillette, AP Lang & Comp
JAGS Pillar: Communicate Ideas & Recognize Perspectives
Junior year, I took AP Lang & Comp as a way to challenge myself. I have never been particularly good at English and language arts-related assignments because I do not have great grammar, and I am not the best with spelling. This class was a bit of a struggle in the beginning, however, I am so glad I took the class because I have improved my writing abilities greatly. For this class, I chose the podcast project as my artifact. With this project, we had to find a relatable topic, interview an expert, research our topic, and create a podcast that was over ten minutes long. My group decided on teen driving and getting your license as our topic because it is something that almost everyone will experience. We interviewed a driving expert from Myers Driving School in North Canton and a bunch of Jackson High School students. This project connects to the pillars of communicating ideas and recognizing perspectives. We recognized the perspectives of our peers when interviewing them to hear what their most difficult part of learning to drive was, and their most memorable experience behind the wheel. We also communicated ideas by sharing our stories and the best way for someone to pass their test on the first try.

Artifact Title: Climate Crisis Resolution & Outstanding Delegate Award
Completion Date: Fouth Quarter
Teacher: Ms. Stone, Model United Nations
JAGS Pillar: Communicate Ideas, Investigate the World, Recognize Perspectives, & Take Action
Model UN was definitely one of the classes I was dreading taking in my junior year. I did not want to do it because I did not like speaking out in front of the class and making my ideas known. The beginning half of the year, my performance in the class reflected this, although I participated, it was not to the best of my ability, and I did not try an immerse myself in the class. However, after I realized I was stuck in the class, I might as well participate, I actually started to enjoy the class. For my artifact, I chose my outstanding delegate award and a resolution I created. For the award, if someone had told me that I would have won an award in this class for my performance, I would have laughed at them and said they had the wrong person. However, now I would say I deserve the award. The resolution I made was also very special for me because it was the first large resolution I spoke on, created, and was able to pass in the chamber. The class of Model UN truly encapsulates every pillar of JAGS. In Model UN, you have to be able to communicate ideas if you want a successful chamber and to pass a resolution. You also have to be an expert in recognizing the perspectives of other delegates and the nation they represent if you want to create a successful resolution and debate. This class is also all about taking action through resolutions and creating real-world solutions to real-world problems, even if they do not actually do anything. You also have to investigate the world to be a good delegate by having a baseline understanding of global affairs. Overall, this class has made me a better person and a better JAGS student because I am more open to communicating ideas and recognizing how others feel!

Artifact Title: Math Test
Completion Date: Fourth Quarter
Teacher: Mrs. MacDonald, AP Precalculus
JAGS Pillar: Communicate Ideas & Investigate the World
This math class was challenging for me, as it was my first AP math class and my first time having difficulty understanding the material. Previously, I had never struggled with math, always receiving 100% on tests and quizzes, but this year I received my first C on a math test. Pre-calc with all the symbols and rules made the class challenging for me to understand. I chose a math test that I received a really good score on because it marked the turning point in the year when I finally started to understand the concepts. This particular test was on the unit circle, which I had previously struggled with memorizing and understanding it. This class and test are connected to the pillars of investigating the world and communicating ideas. In math, you are constantly learning a new language and communicating your ideas through numbers, and this class was no different. This class made me a better JAGS student as I have a new mindset was facing challenges, especially those that I do not know the answer to.

Artifact Title: La Guerra Civil Espanola
Completion Date: Fourth Quarter
Teacher: Señor Fradl, Spanish 4
JAGS Pillar: Recognize Perspectives & Investigate the World
This year's Spanish was bittersweet as it was my last year taking Spanish. During the last nine weeks, we spent a heavy emphasis on learning the Spanish culture through the civil war in pain. We learned about the different sides, the nationalists and the republicans, why they were fighting, the outcome of the war, and how Spain was changed. This whole unit was very interesting, as before I did not even realise that Spain had a civil war, the impact it had on future wars. Señor Fradl did an excellent job showing us artifacts and stories to give us a full understanding of the situation. For my artifact, I used a collage of images from the Civil War. I connected this unit to recognizing perspectives and investigating the world. To fully understand the war, we had to understand both sides of the war. The Republicans were upset because they were the lower class and did not have many rights and freedoms, so when Azana took over, he made Spain more equal. The nationalists were unhappy because the lower class was being given more rights and Spain was becoming more equal. We also investigated the world by looking at the Spanish Civil War influenced world affairs, and WWII. This unit gave me a better understanding of global history, making me a better JAGS student.

Artifact Title: Transgenic Pigs
Completion Date: Second Quarter
Teacher: Mr. Tamburro, AP Biology
JAGS Pillar: Communicate Ideas, Investigate the World, & Take Action
For my science class, I chose to take AP Bio because of how much I enjoyed regular biology freshman year. I chose my project on transgenic pigs to be my artifact for the year. For this project, we had to find a new piece of medical advancements or technology and create a project that explains it to the class on how it benefits society. Transgenic pigs are animals that have been genetically modified to have the same DNA as humans so their organs are viable for transfer into humans. This project included a lot of research and understanding to understand the biggest objection, which was the ethical implications. I connected this artifact to communicating ideas, taking action, and investigating the world. I communicated my findings with the class in the form of a slide show. I took action by finding a viable solution to the organ shortage crisis, as the pigs provide organs that can be successfully transferred into humans. Finally, I investigated the world of science to find a recent medical advancement. This project made me a better JAGS student as I was more medically knowledgeable and a better communicator when presenting to a group.
