Recognize perspectives
Heifer Global Village offers a unique, unforgettble experience of living and working in different regions of the world, taking place in countries undergoing develpment. Through this experience I was able to preform life in the eyes of individuals who live in poverty, experiencing some of the daily challanges they face. By undergoing life in this harsh conditions, Heifer helps my class and I recognize perspecitves of diverse perspectives, each country providing a different lifestlye experience.
During my time at Heifer Global Village, I learned how to be self sufficiant, I traded for goods and services, cooked my groups meal, and started a fire. Learning these skills had a major impact on my homelife. I began to better apperciate everything I had taken for granted, a kitchen filled with food, a soft bed, and a roof over my head. Not only did Heifer help me relize all that I took for granted, it also helped me build team work skills, survival skills, problem solving, and my resilience. This opportunity completely changed my outlook on my daily life, made me more independent, all while futhering my bonds with fellow classmates.

Genius Project
Third Quarter, 2023
Mrs. Depriest
English 1
The Genius Project offered an opportunity to make a semester-long project using any subject we wanted by communicating ideas. During the Genuis Project I was able to complete checkpoints and my overall goal by providing weeklly updates with my teacher and class. Upon presenting what I had done for the week, both positive and negative feedback was given to help spark new ideas of going about completing this project.
During the Genuis Project, I learned how to manage my time in order to achieve a goal I had set for myself. I also learned how to criticize others without attacking their work, to not take criticizm to heart, and to consistantly put in effort towards a goal even if I felt like giving up. This project changed my overall work ethic both at home and school, and helped me become more self sufficiant as it was an individual project.

Frog Dissection Lab
Second Semester, 2023
Mr. Preston
Biology
The Frog Dissection Lab was one of the most bizzar experiences of my freshman year and my highschool career. To start the lab we needed to find a partner to work with and receive instruction on how to dissect our frogs. I picked Anderson Mashall to be my partner for this project. After getting a partner we began the lab.
The Frog Dissection Lab follows one pillar of JAGS: communicate ideas. During the lab my partner and I needed to work together to have one person open the frog up while the other would examine the insides then we would switch jobs after a small period of time. After examining the frog we closed up the frog and properly disposed of it, the classroom had a horrific pungent oader from the frogs, but the smell went away the next day. During the project I learned how to dissect a frog, to properly identify organs of an animal, and to work at the same speed as my partner to achieve the best results. Though this project was pretty gross, it was a really unforgettable experience.

All of World History
Freshman Year
Mr. MarLett
World History
World History was my favorite and strangest class of freshman year. The whole year consisted acting out scenes of history and watching film. Over the year we acted out much of the worlds history, sometimes as a king of a country, and other times as the country itself. This class held some of the best memories of freshman beacue of the strange daily occurrances.
World History met many if not all of the pillars of JAGS, but the two that apply the most consist of: communicate ideas, and recognize perspectives. Most day we would go over a new History topic then use characters we learned about the topic to preform different scenes from their veiw. This class taught me how to act, to have fun while learning, and how facinating world history truly is. This by far the best class of freshman year.

Video Project
Second Semester
Mrs. Dennison
Spanish 2
The Video Project was one of the last big assignments I completed in Spanish 2. The assignment consisted of spending a few weeks perfecting a script and then presenting it in the form of a short video. After I finished making my script, it was already the due date so I needed to rush the project. In the end I did get the project done on time even though I waited until the last minute.
The Video Project follows one pillar of JAGS: communicate ideas. The whole project revolved around talking to other classmates, asking for constant feedback so that we can perfect our scripts. I learned many things while making this project. The biggest thing I learned was to stop waiting to the last minute as I only hade minutes before the project would have been late. I also learned how to sound fluent while speaking a different language. Even when I didnt want to go through with the project I still got the job done, making this project one of my biggest accomplishments in Spanish 2.
