Thank You Project
First Semester, 2024
Mr. Walsh, Miss. Arter, Mrs. K
JAGS
The Thank You Project was a chance to give back to members of the community whose services dont recieve enough praise. My group agreed upon giving thanks to Jacksons Fire Department. After picking the fire department we spent some time planning how we would thank them and when, we decided to go shopping for snacks and drinks that members of the fire department could enjoy. Once we bought the food and drinks, we assembled care packages in paper bags then delivered them directly to the fire department. Upon arriving to the fire department we asked for and recieved permission to go insde and give our thanks which they loved and mentioned that gifts from members of the community are not very common at their department.
The Thank You Project meets the pillars: take action, and recognize perspectives. My group had the opportunity to do an interview with everyone at the fire department working that day. We heard stories of what their daily life is like, how often they work, the worst call they've been on, and the lack of appreciation they recieve. The fire department did not directly say they are under appreciated, but with what they said only few have showed thier thanks in the way our group did. During this project I learned how hard life is as a firefighter, firefighters are silent heros in our society, and the community needs to show firefighters more love.

Documentary Project
Second Semester, 2024
Mrs. Muckley
JAGS Accelerated English 10
The Documentary Project is a major milestone in my JAGS career. This project is a semester long research presentation in the form of a short film, we recieved many weeks to work with the overall goal of a film we could be proud to share with our classmates and community at Summit night. My group was Brady Wyss, Connor Austin, and Ale Prior. This project taught me to not procrastinate, only a few days before the project needed to be submitted we didnt even have a complete script let alone the hours worth of visuals and audios we needed to compile. I spent multiple nights over at Ales house working past midnight just to have a chance of getting this project done.
The Documentary Project aligns with the pillar, investigate the world, we spent a large amount of time finding out facts in realtion to poaching, our topic, we learned about different types of poaching that happen around the world, and what animals poaching has the greatest impact on. We learned that poaching isnt only hunting animals, but also trapping animals, and over fishing areas. Also, we gather information by comunicating with experts, both in the area and internationally. Though this project was difficult it taught me much about how to be accountable, and as mentioned before to not procrastinate.

GO NIGHT
First Semester, 2023
Miss. Arter
Chemistry
GO NIGHT, Cleansing the Community is the first major project of the year, we recieved instruction to form groups of four and research one of the UN sustainability goals. My group consisted of Jackson Baker, Connor Austin, and Brady Wyss. We choose the goal related to pollution, as every country around the world faces some form of polution.
GO NIGHT follows the pillar, take action, as we needed to go around our community picking up litter, while also documenting it. After my group did our community service we took all of the photos of our work and compiled it into a presentation. After making our presentation we practiced for a while and then presented it to friends and parents at GO NIGHT. During this project I learned how polluted my community is, how to combat it, and how to inspire others to help stop pollution in my area.

Animal Project
Second Semester, 2024
Mr. Walsh
American History
The Animal project is the third major project we complted sophomore year. My group was Jackson Baker, Ale Prior, and Brady Wyss. We visited Stahl's No Harm Farm for our service, and our job was feeding and cleaning the animals. This was one of my favorite projects of the year because we finished the project way before the dealine so it was not stressful, and we had the chance to help out animals.
Cleaning Stahl's meets two pillars of JAGS: Take action, and communicate ideas. During the time leading up to presenting the final project we needed to show evidence of our progress, and how our group was communicating effectively. After doing our checkups we presented our experience at Stahl's and all of the things we learned while serving. Stahl's taught me a few really interesting things, how to "Muck" a stall, how to handle sometimes aggressive animals, and it taught me to be a hard worker. Overall, Stahl's was one of the best service experiences my group and I have ever had and we wouldn't mind going back in the future.

Familia
Sophomore
Mrs. Dria
Spanish 3
In Spanish three, we created groups of four called a familia in which we would spend the rest of the year with. The goal of a Familia is to try our best at only having conversations in Spanish. My group consisted of Ava Brown, Anna Gillete, and Ali Williams. Our Familia name is Velezaques, and our family pet is a penguin named Penguino.
The Familia circles around the pillar, communicating ideas, as the reason we have Familia's is to communicate with eachother in spanish to the best of our abilities. This really helped me learn to speak Spanish without putting in too much effort, so that I could sound natural when I speak it. During the Year I learned many funny terms in spanish, more about my familia members, and how to ask for help when I dont know something.
