JAGS Pillar: Investigate the World
Is there anything else that needs to be said other than just... Costa Rica! There isn't even one moment that I can come up with that was better than the rest. From cliff jumping to white water rafting to zip lining to the long bus rides, every second of that trip was filled with adventure and unforgettable memories.
Getting the chance to learn about a different culture and way of life with some of my best friends is an experience I will never be able to forget. We all overcame some fears on this trip whether it be the ocean, traveling without our parents, or (due to our food allergies), eating international food. But this trip has without a doubt shaped the way I view both the rest of the world, and the bubble that I live in.

JAGS Pillar: Communicate Ideas
One day that I loved in Chemistry was the mole project gallery walk. The mole projects were basically just a fun way for everyone to remember the MOL formula. Students had the option of painting ceiling tiles, creating a stuffed animal, making a music video or designing a shirt. I went with the shirt, which I unfortunately had to turn in, but it was one of the most fun things we did in that class and it was really cool to see what everyone came up with.
Chemistry was definitely not a walk in the park, but the numerous labs we did made it interesting. Testing different chemicals with one another to see what happened definitely opened my eyes to something I did not think would be enjoyable. The safety unit took longer than I would have hoped, but to k=my knowledge only one person broke a beaker.

JAGS Pillar: Recognize Perspectives
Learning another language is definitely not easy, but being surrounded by my peers also learning made it much more enjoyable. Being able to join the Spanish Honors Society, or La Sociedad as we call it, is probably one of my greatest achievements. I love getting to speak to my fellow students in another language.
Joining honors has also improved my confidence in regards to speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish. I loved my class and my teacher, but Spanish Honors is really what improved my confidence and my overall Spanish knowledge.

JAGS Pillar: Recognize Perspectives
Taking AP US History meant I did not get to experience the entertaining class of my fellow JAGS students with Mr Walsh, however I did learn a lot. My favorite APUSH memory was the day Mr Taray gave us a fascinating lecture about the circus. Being a huge fan of the film, The Greatest Showman, it was interesting to see how much of it was accurate. I can confidently say that Hugh Jackman did an outstanding job with the role of PT Barnum.
Something else that we got to do in history was watching the movie Forrest Gump, and although that does not sound very academic, the assignment we did based on it was. There is a scene in the movie were Forrest is giving a speech about his thoughts on the war, but the microphone cut out, our job was to fill in what he would have said. This gave us the ability to work creatively as well as look at the time period and what someone like Forrest would have said.

JAGS Pillar: Take Action
Getting the opportunity to help the community is one of the greatest parts of JAGS. I really loved being able to give back to the township through both the Thank You and the Animal Projects. For the Thank You Project my group decided to create a gift basket for our school nurse, who does not get enough credit for everything she does for us.
The Animal Project however was one of the greatest experiences ever. My group was able to collect over 100 donations and dollars for the Stark County Humane Society. We also kept up information online about pets that were up for adoption. This project was so rewarding because we were able to both help the organization and individual animals with finding their forever homes.
