My name is Brady Wyss, I joined JAGS my freshmen year because I wanted something extra out of my high school career and I thought JAGS would be a great place to achieve this. I am so grateful for the experiences JAGS has given me and for the lifelong memories and friends that I will cherish forever. Throughout high school I enjoyed running cross country and track; both sports have taught me that anything is possible through hard work and patience. As of now, I plan on staying close for college and I am interested in medicine.
My JAGS Journey (What is JAGS?)
The Jackson Academy for Global Studies (JAGS) is a program within Jackson High School based on the four principles below. Students in JAGS, such as myself, are given a very unique school experience as every part of this academy has a global focus, through learning a world language, cultural awareness, collaboration in the community, opportunities for leadership roles, or educational travel. Skills learned through JAGS are meaningful and last a lifetime.
The Four Pillars of JAGS
These are a few of my experiences representing the core beliefs of JAGS
Some of my favorite memories have been from exploring and experiencing the world outside of my own comfort zone. Traveling with JAGS has made me aware that this world is huge, but I can still make a big impact and have a lot of fun along the way.
This second pillar of JAGS is important for improving communication (pillar #3), showing empathy, promoting problem solving, and supporting personal growth by becoming more open-minded. This pillar is rooted heavily in each core class, as all students in JAGS have to recognize each other's views to become better classmates.
Strong communication skills are something that every JAGS member needs to have to be successful in this program, as every class and every project relies heavily on being able to work well with others. Communication is the key towards enhancing teamwork and solving global issues.
Taking action has transformed my intentions into progress that has helped me live a more purposeful and fulfilling life. By taking action myself, I can give someone the motivation they need to do the same which can lead to positive change in my community.
