This project represents investigating the world pillar of JAGS, as I researched independently on ways to improve my cardio fitness to achieve my goal of running a marathon split over three days. Over the course of the few weeks I spent on this project, I learned how to better manage my time and set smaller goals to achieve the overall objective.

Genius Hour Project
4/27/23
Mrs. DePriest - English 9
During my freshman English class, I was given the chance to create and present on a project of my choice. One of my favorite hobbies since the end of middle school is running, so I took this opportunity to try to take my running to the next level. Over the eight weeks that we were given to complete our goals, I would either attend track practice or run on my own for at least 30 minutes. I made sure to hydrate, sleep, and stretch well, as well as recover on the weekends. In the end, I was able to complete my goal of running 26.2 miles in three days. (8.73 miles per day)

Global Opportunities Night
11/7/22
Mr. Marlett - World History
This project represents communicating ideas as my group and I expressed our beliefs in front of a small audience on the aspects between our chosen countries. We all learned that communication is the key to teamwork and by working together we were able to create a strong presentation over these two unfamiliar countries.
For GO Night, we were tasked with choosing two different countries and explaining their similarities and differences. My group chose Morocco and Greece as our countries to research. We researched their culture, government, economy, and current issues inside the country. To present this information, we created a poster board and a Google Slides presentation to better show our work.

Learning How To Ski
1/15/23
This experience represents exploring the world, as one of the key lessons of JAGS is teaching students how to become lifelong learners. It is very important to always keep learning after school, whether for a job or even when finding a new hobby.
The winter of my freshman year, my uncle took me up to New York to go skiing at Holimont for a long weekend. This was my first time, and I was pretty nervous. I fell a lot at first, but I kept at it, and within a couple of days, I was skiing some of the easier black diamonds, and I became hooked. Each winter since I would make it my priority to be able to spend at least a weekend up there to go skiing just because of how much I enjoy it as well as it is a great excuse for some family time.

Hispanic Heritage Month Project
9/29/22
Señora King - Spanish 1
This project represents recognizing perspectives as Hispanic Heritage Month occurs annually every September 15th and lasts until October 15th. This month is to commemorate and celebrate the histories, cultures, and contributions made by American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, Central/South America, and the Caribbean.
We were given the option to pick between a couple of different project options and then present the three mini projects relating to Hispanic culture. I chose to create a god's-eye, watch a Hispanic documentary, and recreate a famous Spanish painting. These projects were very fun in my opinion, as they allowed me to paint and do some arts and crafts, which I do not usually do too often in school.

Summit Night Project
5/3/23
Mr. Preston - JAGS Biology
For Summit Night, my group chose to research Japan to learn about their culture, government, economy, recent issues, as well as demonstrate Japan's contributions to global issues such as climate change. My group chose to also research how Japan is actively fighting climate change as well as include a current endangered animal.
