Welcome to the lab!
This year, we are diving into the exciting world of STEM through a variety of experiments, activities, and STEAM learning opportunities.
So...what is STEM? STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
STEM is what you "make" of it!

📚 STEM & Literacy Design Challenge 🔬
Celebrating National Reading Month
March is National Reading Month, a time to celebrate the power of stories. In STEM, we solve problems using creativity, critical thinking, and design. In literature, characters face challenges that require imagination, resilience, and innovation. This month, we are combining both.
______________________________________________
Students will select a literary work and engineer a key object from the story using limited materials. Each design must demonstrate:
• Structural stability
• Intentional planning
• Creativity grounded in text evidence
• Application of STEM principles
Like real engineers, students will plan, prototype, test, and improve.

7th and 8th Grade students will explore, design, & create props from classic literature including:
Mad Hatter's top hat from Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
The Peach from James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl
Spring of Immortality from Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt
Truffula Tree from The Lorax Dr. Seuss
