Welcome Scientists!
My name is Ms. Hill. It is my goal to foster all students in Environmental Education through an inquiry, project and action based approach in learning. Our curriculum and units are extended from the Pennsylvania Standards of Science and Environmental Literacy and Sustainability Standards. Through utilizing the amazing resources we have available at Bear Creek, your student will build their confidence in understanding our environment, and develop a role in solving real-world environmental problems.
With changing weather, I would like to share some reminders:
1. Check when your student has EE, and prepare them for that day appropriately.
2. We go outside. – There are ticks and other bugs. Spray your clothes as needed, with a natural repellant.
3. We will get dirty and/or wet. – Have an extra set of clothes and hiking sneakers to change into. Students can keep this in their locker until needed, rather than remembering to bring a set each week.
4. We will be actively learning. – Class is going to consist of hands-on fun. Have your student prepared to DO things physically in class.

Be ready to learn- Students are expected to wear proper gear to allow them full participation in activities. These activities range from in class labs, to gathering data and artifacts on trails and in the woods. **We won't go outside everyday, but it will be good to prepare each EE day by wearing layered clothing, hiking shoes and high socks.
Engage- Students are expected to participate through exploration by asking questions, seeking answers, discussing possible problems and solutions, and reflecting on observations.
Act responsible- Students are expected to prioritize safety, use integrity, and handle science tools appropriately.
Respect others and the environment- Students are expected to show respect to teachers, peers, and all other living organisms.
During projects, students will be scored with a separate rubric.
