About the SBMS Media Center:

Update Spring 2023

Our Media Center is all-new.  The SBMS Media Center has new furniture, shelving, flooring, and an overall new look.  Inspired by flexible seating in the libraries of higher-education settings, we are proud to provide all students with a place where they will feel comfortable and welcome.

With over 2,000square feet, the SBMS Media Center is located in the center of the school.  One entire wall of the library is floor-to-ceiling windows that look out on a small courtyard, and there are large display cases flanking the double doors on each side. Bookcases are along the two side walls, and there are some stand-alone ones in the floor space. There is a massive circulation desk in the back of the library, near the librarian’s office, and work room. Furniture includes 15 heavy wooden tables, matching chairs, four tall desktop stations, a newline screen, and a podium. However, good news is here. The SBMS Media Center will be receiving a complete makeover in the new year.  Bookcases, seating, and tables will all be modern, student-friendly, and modular.

This space is quite aged, with main furnishings dating back to the 1980’s, and furniture from 2005, this even includes the fabric backing on the chairs. Attached to the library is a makerspace room, a small multipurpose office, the librarian’s office, and a workroom. The workroom houses a poster printer, copier, die-cut machine, spiral binding machine, laminator, storage of class novel sets, calculators, and science equipment. The SBMS library is staffed by one full-time certified librarian, and no assistants. The digital learning specialist (itinerant) works in the library on the days she is at the school
